Description
Cathepsins are all hydrolyzed from inactive preprocathepsin. Cathepsin E is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the CTSE gene. Cathepsin E is a protease found in animals, as well as various other organisms, that belongs to the aspartic protease group. It is an intracellular non-lysosomal glycoprotein that is mainly found in the skin and in immune cells.
