Description

Narasin is an ionophore antibiotic which is a derivative of salinomycin. It modifies the permeability of cellular membranes to cationic metal species. It inhibits NF-κB signaling via inhibition of IκBα phosphorylation with an IC₅₀ of 3.2 µM. Treatment with narasin (2-4 µM) and TRAIL synergistically induces apoptosis in human glioma cells by inducing ER stress and CHOP upregulation.
