L-Alanine Assay Kit (Colorimetric/Flurometric)

Caspase-1 Antibody

Product Category:
Cell Ferroptosis Assay Kit

Description

Our L-alanine assay kit provides a simple, direct and automated procedure to measure alanine concentration. This determination allows fluorescence and colorimetric detection of alanine in biological samples. Alanine is converted to pyruvate, which can then be measured directly. The color intensity of the reaction product at 570 nm or the fluorescence intensity at Ex/Em=530/585 nm is proportional to the concentration of alanine in the sample.

More Details
Alanine is a non-essential amino acid used in the glucose-alanine cycle between tissues and the liver. In the tissues that metabolize the amino acid, the amino group is collected as glutamate by transamination. The amino group is then transferred from glutamate to pyruvate by alanine aminotransferase (ALT) to form alanine and alpha-ketoglutarate. The resulting alanine is transported to the liver, where the reverse ALT reaction occurs and pyruvate is regenerated. Pyruvate is converted to glucose by gluconeogenesis and then recycled to the tissues. Alanine concentrations may correlate with hypertension, energy intake, cholesterol levels, and body mass index.
