More Details
Glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH) is an enzyme that catalyzes the interconversion of glutamate and alpha-ketoglutarate. Elevated serum GLDH levels indicate liver injury. Therefore, GLDH plays an important role in the diagnosis of liver disease, especially when used in combination with transaminases. Transgenic plants expressing microbial GLDH showed improved tolerance to herbicides, water deficiency and pathogenic infections.
