Description
Chymotrypsin is a serine protease, a digestive enzyme that can break down protein. Its active group is serine. Chymotrypsin cleaves peptide bonds at the carboxyl groups of tyrosine, tryptophan, and phenylalanine to cleave proteins. If the reaction has enough time, chymotrypsin can also hydrolyze the carboxy-terminal peptide bond that is mainly leucine.
