Description
Changes in the ratio of ADP/ATP have been used to distinguish cell death patterns and viability. Increased ATP levels and decreased ADP levels indicate that cells are proliferating. Conversely, a decrease in ATP and an increase in ADP indicate cell apoptosis or necrosis, where necrosis is more pronounced than the decrease in ATP and increase in ADP.
